Does my teenager have good study habits? Every teenager has to do homework, but not all students use appropriate study techniques. Developing good study habits help students learn and retain more facts, skills and information. Use this assessment to help determine if your child is using good study methods.
1. The television is on when my child is doing homework.
2. My child always does his/her homework in the same place.
3. My child studies while listening to the radio or his/her MP3 player.
4. My child always has the resources and/or supplies needed to do homework.
5.When working on large or on-going assignments/projects, we use a calendar to track the amount of time dedicated to studying and the deadline dates.
6. I reinforce the idea that studying is more than just doing homework assignments.
7.I often help my child while he/she is studying.
8. My child often studies with other students.
9. I do not allow my child to get up from the table until all of his/her homework is complete for the evening.
10. My child takes notes when reading and studying.
